YVETTE LANDRY grew up in Breaux Bridge, Louisiana, not far from the levees of the Atchafalaya Basin, North America’s largest swampland. It was in and around that swamp where she learned an appreciation for the music, dance, stories and language of her Cajun culture. After earning a master’s degree in education and developing a successful teaching career, she began telling stories through song. Playing a variety of instruments in several Cajun bands, Landry also fronts her own band, The Yvette Landry Band. Her debut award-winning album titled “Should Have Known” was released in 2010. (The album was named Offbeat Magazine’s “Best Country/Folk Album” and Landry “Best Country/Folk Artist”). Over the past several years, Landry has traveled the world and played countless cultural festivals and venues – from the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival to the Bluebird Café in Nashville. She toured Russia and served as a Cultural Ambassador on behalf of the Library of Congress to perform at the Festival of Traditional American Music and graced the stage at both the Library of Congress and John F. Kennedy Center of Performing Arts in Washington, DC. |

Our favorite Nashville songwriter and performer Verlon Thompson blows us away every year! If you have not seen him live you are in for huge treat! There will be a song swap to open the show with two of the best songwriters around, Lee Barber and Eric Schmitt. This weekend is all about good songwriting (Verlon is leading a songwriting workshop while he is here) and he tells the story that Guy Clark was giving him some advice on his career and said “Verlon, all you need is a satchel full of good songs”. That is exactly what we will get to hear on January 12th... good songs! |

One of our favorite people will be back for Arts For All’s annual songwriting workshop and while here he will give us a wonderful evening of music and stories and a very special part of the show will be a "Barnegie Hall" style session. If you haven’t seen Verlon’s great series with songwriters look it up! It was filmed at his barn and is very much worth watching! For this show Verlon will interview Eric Schmitt, Jodi James and Clay Parker about their songwriting and they will share songs. We are really looking forward to this very special evening!
