In the spirit of classic variety shows, such as "The Carol Burnett Show" and "Saturday Night Live," hosts "Ouiser and Clairee" hilariously emcee a show of musical numbers and comedic sketches. With music featuring such icons as Barbra Streisand and Whitney Houston, comedic skits including beloved characters “Mama” and "Eunice,” and a special guest appearance from the always hysterical and talented Golden Guys, this will be a delightful show not to be missed. Enjoy “Blush and Bashful” cocktails, take a photo at Truvy’s Beauty Shop, have fun taking a chance on some wonderful raffle prizes, and dance the night away like two pigs fighting under a blanket. There will be plenty of laughter and entertainment, so come and smile, because as Truvy says, "it increases your face value!" All proceeds go towards Red Magnolia Theatre Company’s 2019 Main Stage performance of Steel Magnolias. The LSU Women's Center is located on the corner of South Campus and Veterans Drive behind Barnes and Noble underneath the parking garage. Auditions will consist of cold readings from the script. Rehearsals are slated to begin September 16th. Performance dates are November 14-17 and 21-24, with performances at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday matinees at 2 p.m. at The Studio Theatre, located at Theatre Baton Rouge. Requests for show-related information may be directed to Steel Magnolias director, Michele Johnson by e-mail at mjohnson@redmagnoliatc.org. No advance copies of the script will be distributed for this production. Red Magnolia seeks an ethnically diverse cast of all ages and backgrounds, and for this production. CASTING NEEDS Truvy Jones – mid-40s; any ethnicity; owner of the beauty parlor; friend and neighbor to her clientele. Annelle Dupuy-Desoto – early 20s; any ethnicity; Truvy’s assistant, new in town; naive, serious, full of apprehensions. Clairee Belcher – 60s to 70s; any ethnicity; widow of the former mayor of Chinquapin, Louisiana; very wealthy; socially prominent but unpretentious. Shelby Eatenton-Latcherie – mid-20s to early 30s; any ethnicity; a lovely, independent, adventurous young woman. M’Lynn Eatenton – mid 40s to mid-50s; any ethnicity; Shelby’s mother; very protective of Shelby; she works as an administrator at the Mental Guidance Center. Ouiser Boudreaux – 60s to 70s; any ethnicity; a true character; a very wealthy woman who doesn’t look or play the part; she’s an eccentric and a curmudgeon; speaks her mind at all costs. While it is not mandatory to sign up for auditions, it is encouraged and helps the process go much more swiftly. About Venue

The Red Magnolia Theatre Company was formed by six friends whose relationship was built on and off the stage. Our desire is to create a place that puts women in the spotlight by cultivating opportunities supporting the development of female artists while simultaneously sharing our love for the arts with our community.

Red Magnolia Theatre Company provides an outlet for a creative, joyful, and bonding collaboration among women in the arts through their involvement in all aspects of theatre production, while serving the community with enriching and entertaining performances.
