Chorum Hall welcomes back the amazing group “Extended.” This trio features Brad Webb on drums, Matt Booth on bass, and LSU grad, Oscar Rossignoli on piano. This group represents the best kept secret on the New Orleans jazz scene. As stated by Geraldine Wycliffe from Offbeat Magazine, "these three musicians sound as if they were destined to play with each other. Their interactions, improvisations and the seamless way their compositions flow from cut to cut feel instinctive.” |

This amazing trio is comprised of drummer/composer Barra Brown; bassist/beatmaker Alex Meltzer and Cyrus Nabipoor on trumpet. The group presents an expertly crafted blend of deep hip-hop cuts, jazz experimentalism, and forward-thinking composition. Using limited instrumentation and improvisation in their performance, the group drops massive grooves that harken back to hip hop’s Golden Era while simultaneously paving a way for future sounds. The result is a sonic journey composed of digital and analog textures which allows the group to reverse engineer classic instrumental hip-hop vibes in real time. |

There's a couple of firsts here for Mark Zaleski...
1. This is the first time he's performed in Baton Rouge
2. This is the world premiere of his re-imaginations of the music of Dave Brubeck! This is the very first in a year's worth of concerts all over the country celebrating Brubeck's 100th birthday.
Zaleski got to know Brubeck between 2003-2005 as the first alto saxophonist selected for the Dave Brubeck Institute. Since then he's toured the world and performed with artists like Louis Cole, Lake Street Dive, Tiger Okoshi, Bob Moses, and Ian Anderson of Jethro Tull. His last record "Days, Months, Years" featured his high-energy, rock-influenced version of instrumental modern jazz and he performed on both alto saxophone, soprano saxophone, and double bass on the record. This is the the first of it's kind in the jazz genre. He currently lives in Boston where he holds faculty positions at New England Conservatory of Music and Berklee College of Music. |
