Interested in exploring the nature oasis next door or looking to take your neighborhood walks to the next level? Our Urban Hike series is a great start! Geared toward nature novices of all ages, participants will enjoy a leisurely walk through a BREC park while learning some fun facts about the park’s natural areas and the fundamentals of adventuring in the great outdoors. Preregistration is required and all children must be accompanied by an adult.

Explore the natural places throughout the parish just beyond your backyard at BREC Conservation Areas with staff on a Conservation Woods Walk. Further off the beaten path, these walks are geared toward providing an interactive experience at Conservation areas and trails throughout the parish to make these special natural spaces more familiar. Open to both novices and experts alike, these walks are more primitive and more rigorous than your regular walk in the park. Preregistration is required and all children must be accompanied by an adult.

A night of scary movies, on the big screen, in the middle of a park… it feels just right for Friday the 13th in October! Bring your blankets and chairs for a special outdoor screening of the old school and classic Halloween films, Scream (1996) and Rocky Horror Picture Show. In addition to the screenings, enjoy live music, food trucks and cocktails before the start of Scream. And then be ready for the annual initiation and showing of Rocky Horror. Costumes are welcome.
This is an adult-only event as alcohol will be present. Must show ID upon arrival.
