Act One pulls from the legendary book, “I Survived Auschwitz”, by Krystyna Zywulska, revealing the author attempting to record her memories of the camp, even as she is haunted by, and relives, her story of secrets and survival. Act Two introduces Gad Beck who, years after the war, is visited by the ghost of his long-lost lover, Manfred, who perished under the Nazis’ brutal treatment of homosexual prisoners.

About Venue

Founded in 1931, the LSU Opera is one of the oldest and most recognized collegiate opera programs in the nation.

LSU Opera, one of the first major university programs in the United States, has produced exceptional singers who have performed on world opera stages such as The Metropolitan Opera, La Scala, Houston Grand Opera and more. LSU opera annually produces four productions, including two productions that are fully staged, designed, costumed and accompanied by the LSU Symphony Orchestra.

The Turner-Fischer Center for Opera at LSU, one of the first major university programs in the United States, has produced exceptional singers who have sung on world opera stages such as the Metropolitan Opera, La Scala, Lyric Opera of Chicago, San Francisco Opera, Houston Grand Opera, and New York City Opera. LSU annually produces two main stage productions, fully staged, designed, costumed, and accompanied by members of the LSU Symphony Orchestra, alongside smaller, staged shows and numerous outreach performance opportunities. In addition to private voice lessons with faculty, students receive one-on-one coaching with the opera music director and extensive training in acting and stage-craft from the opera stage director.
