The Louisiana Art & Science Museum is proud to present "Then, and Now, and Always: The Art of Nick Bustamante", opening with a free public reception on Saturday, March 21, from 4 PM to 6 PM in the Soupçon Gallery. "Then, and Now, and Always" explores themes of family, memory, loss, and transformation through Bustamante’s distinctive visual language. His work reflects the ways personal history and inherited experience shape identity over time, inviting viewers to consider healing, resilience, and connection across generations. Nicholas Bustamante earned his Bachelor of Arts from Humboldt State University and his Master of Fine Arts in Painting from California State University, Long Beach. A professor of art at Louisiana Tech University, Bustamante has received numerous honors for his teaching, research, and service, including the Louisiana Tech University Foundation Award for Professor of the Year and the University Faculty Senate Chair Award. His work is included in private, public, and museum collections nationwide. The exhibition aligns with LASM’s mission to explore the intersections of art and science. As co-founder and Director of the Visual Integration of Science Through Art (VISTA) Center at Louisiana Tech University, Bustamante bridges creative practice and scientific inquiry. His work reinforces LASM’s commitment to interdisciplinary exploration and evidence-based wellness programming. The March 21 opening reception is free and open to the public. Guests will have the opportunity to meet the artist and celebrate the exhibition in LASM’s Soupçon Gallery. The exhibition and opening reception is generously sponsored by the College of Liberal Arts at Louisiana Tech University. "Then, and Now, and Always" will be on view through Sunday, July 19.
